Volunteers worked in more than 25 different garden locations in the Southwest Corridor Park

Volunteer garden stewards work on their own throughout the week and also groups of volunteers work on the approximately 19 volunteer days we have held so far this year.

Volunteers work either on their own; or in small groups; or in larger groups, with up to 60 volunteers working on our largest volunteer day.

On our volunteer days, 328 leaf/compost bags have been filled.

9-21-2019SE 1 hoursToday the State Police and Boston Police were on the park 3 times to deal with multiple instances of drug use. Pat the homeless kid has trash up on Newton North. Worse today than ever. But maybe we are getting used to it?  1

8-9-2019SE 180 hoursRed Pine Scholars, with the Philanthropic Initiative, volunteered with the park for the second year in a row. This is a statewide scholarship program for students from throughout Massachusetts. New students meet for a day-long event before school starts, with meetings in the morning and a volunteer event with us in the afternoon. Volunteers worked in the Rose Garden, Butterfly Garden, Potting Garden, Carleton Court Dog Park, Claremont Green and painted barrels all along the park. 60 students and six stewards.15 bags60

Hybrid yellow tea rose / ť 4-5 ft nearcorner of wrought iron fence and circle. In front of it Floribundas red rose “intrigue” grows 2 1/2 feet. Where the Japanese iris where on the right side of circle planted Floribundas red rose “Trumpeter” grows 2 1/2 ft.
